Before your first proper journey
- Pair your phone and confirm calls, audio and navigation work while parked.
- Set a comfortable driving position and save it if your specification provides a memory function.
- Open the driver-assistance menu and read each active feature before changing it.
- Check the charging cable, tyre information and recovery details supplied with your car.
- Photograph the software-version screen for your own dated record.
Build a simple screen routine
MG describes the IM5 as a pure-electric, technologically advanced saloon. Its official brochure specifies an ultra-wide 26.3-inch display alongside a 10.5-inch central vertical display. Learn one screen at a time while stationary; avoid configuring unfamiliar controls during a journey.
Set up charging without assumptions
- Confirm the connector is fully seated before starting a session.
- Check both the charger display and the car.
- For a scheduled charge, verify the start time, target and time zone.
- After the first home and public sessions, retain the receipt or app record.
- If results differ from the car or charger instructions, record the conditions before seeking advice.
Plan the space you actually use
The official brochure states a 457-litre boot capacity. Test your own regular items rather than relying on a number alone, and secure charging equipment so it cannot move around the load area.
Safety evidence, kept separate
Euro NCAP published a 2025 safety assessment for the IM IM5. The assessment applies to the listed electric IM5 variants, including right-hand-drive cars. It is an independent test source—not a substitute for the handbook or confirmation of the exact equipment fitted to your car.
