Start with these MGS6 EV checks

Set displays for the actual driver

Before the first journey, position the seat and mirrors and choose a clear driver-display layout. If your grade has a head-up display, have its adjustment demonstrated. Repeat the setup for another regular driver and establish how their preferences are saved.

Practise the family loading routine

Check rear seating, child-restraint instructions, boot access and the clearance needed by fitted powered features. Keep the car stationary and the area clear while learning the controls. Store loose charging equipment so it cannot move around the cabin.

Record the complete software identity

Capture the full version screens before changing settings or accepting a retailer update. Distinguish the car display from the connected app and phone-projection settings. If something changes later, the original record makes a support request more precise.

Powered tailgate: a chosen height or a fault?

If your MGS6 has a powered tailgate, a lower opening height can be an intentional setting. The handbook describes a height choice through the entertainment display and a separate method using the tailgate Close button. Check the matching handbook before changing it, and keep people and objects clear of its movement.

An opening-height setting does not explain a tailgate that will not latch, moves unpredictably or shows a fault message. The handbook distinguishes obstacle protection and temporary protective pauses from a power-tailgate system failure. Do not force the mechanism or copy a reset from another MG model.

For an ongoing problem, record whether it stops while opening or closing, whether it latches and the exact warning. The handbook directs a Power Tailgate System Failure message to an MG Authorised Repairer. Secure the vehicle and ask for advice if it cannot be closed safely.

Checked 1 November 2026 against the official MGS6 handbook, page 116. Use the instructions for your fitted tailgate. The original grade-table review date above is unchanged.

Your eight-point first-week checklist

This uses the same checklist as the model hub, with progress kept separately for each grade in this browser. A tick is your own record, not an inspection or a service certificate.

Choose your grade to use the saved checklist.

  1. Match the complete grade and model year to the order. Use the grade guide if the name is incomplete.

  2. Walk around in daylight. Note agreed outstanding work, charging equipment and the accessories supplied.

  3. Have every supplied key/card and approved access route demonstrated. Ask about a flat key/phone situation without attempting an emergency release.

  4. Confirm the correct app and supported phone functions. Keep account binding separate from Bluetooth or phone projection. A used vehicle may need the previous owner’s binding resolved by the retailer.

  5. Follow the car and charger instructions. Watch both show an active session and confirm the normal end/unlock flow before relying on an overnight timer.

  6. Record the actual wheel/tyre specification and pressure-label location. Use the vehicle instructions for cold pressures and load conditions.

  7. Keep a private photograph of version screens before an update. Ask which official update route applies to this car.

  8. Keep the correct handbook and assistance details accessible. Use Passport for your own service and charging history, then export a backup.

After the first week

Keep a small list of observations: the actual charging time, whether phone reconnection worked, any persistent messages and questions about fitted equipment. Include when an issue happened and what changed beforehand. Send that concise record to the supplying retailer through its normal support route if help is needed.

Find the service schedule for your exact car and put the next date or mileage requirement in your own calendar. An app reminder or a ticked checklist does not change the manufacturer’s schedule.

Sources and how to use this guide

This is MyMGEV editorial guidance for MGS6 EV. The grade table retains the published source review dated 2026-09-10; this guide was added on 12 September 2026. It is not a newly certified vehicle specification or a replacement handbook.

Equipment, tyre instructions, battery-care routines and emergency procedures must match the exact car. For a control sequence that is absent here, use the relevant handbook section or ask the supplying retailer to demonstrate it.
